New iPods, better iPods
Yesterday I tryed to access the Apple Store in order to build a fantastic Mac Pro and compare it with a friend to demonstrate that a self assembled mid tower PC is ALWAYS inferior to a Mac Pro, regardless of the price.
BUT
I did not reach the site. A “Post-It” told me that they were working on some upgrade… I suddenly thought about new products…
And I was right…
Today there are news in the iPod family. From the less to the most important:
- Little lower price and better battery perfomance up to 36 hours of music playback, for the big brother of the family, the iPod classic, with always an internal disc of 160Gb and always the same two colors.
- Lower prices, better battery perfomance up to 15 hours of music playback, Genius, multiple playlists, change of shape and a return of the buttons in the new iPod shuffle, still with VoiceOver now in 25 languages, available only with the capacity of 2Gb.
- Lower prices, better battery perfomance up to 24 hours of music playback, 46% smaller than its predecessor, built-in FM Radio with Live Pause feature up to 15 minutes buffer, built-in pedometer, 8 and 16Gb capacities, shake-it function for shuffled songs order, change to white letters over black background, mono audio feature, change of shape, use of the 30pin usb connector and a multi-touch 1.54″ 240×240 pixels squared display in the new iPod nano, now with VoiceOver in 29 languages, also available with an exclusive apple online eshop red color.
- Lower prices, better battery perfomance up to 40 hours of music playback, Apple A4 processor, FaceTime feature to see whom you’re talking with throught Wi-Fi (AppleID needed) and using both front and back cameras at the same time, 3.5″ Retina display with a resolution of 960×640 pixels at 326 pixels per inch, HD Video recording and editing, Game Center (thanks to iOS 4.1), Multitasking, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth® 2.1 + EDR, built-in pedometer, Three-axis gyro, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, 8 32 and 64Gb capacities for the the new iPod touch.
Some suggestions always useful against thefts of camera/videocamera
It is always a bad sensation to discover that someone has stolen our photographic or video equipment. The past summer was like the others, with a lot of friends and other people I know that don’t have their equipment anymore, neither the pictures inside of them, that were just shot taken. So here you can find some suggestions, that I wish I had written before, to prevent thefts of your equipment. You are free to follow one of them, a mix of them, or all of them.
- Always set on the camera the Owner’s, Author’s and Copyright information (I don’t know if it is allowed in the videocameras too), better if you use an email, in order to let an honest customer (that could buy the equipment online trought an auction service) to reach you easily if the thief had not deleted them.
- If you are not on a trip with friends but you are planning to visit crowded places like museums, churchs, concerts, etc. using also public transport, try to prefer a shoulder bag instead a backpack or monoshoulder backpack. Infact backpack are easily to be opened without any possibility for you to catch the action. And look for a bag that is difficult to open without your notice, leaving the zippers in front of you.
- Never waste original boxes with which, because of serial numbers, you have the only possibility to demonstrate you are the real owner of the stolen equipment, in case of finding them by the police. Exif serial numbers are not sufficient proofs.
- If you travel outside your country never forget to carry on in your wallet a copy of the proof of purchase of your equipment, to avoid its sequestration by the customs men if they think you are not carry on the equipment for personal use but to import it illegally and you don’t want to pay import fees.
- Inside rooms, never leave your equipment on your chair’s back or on a clothes hanger, even if it is close to you. It is preferable to feel the bag with an arm or a leg, so take it close to you with an arm or a leg wrapped in the shoulder belt, in order to be noticeable if someone tries to take it or to open it. If you are sure you won’t disturb anyone, you can hide inside the bag a motion sensor alarm, that you can find in any bricolage or electronic dealer.
- You can use a GPS GSM/GPRS tracker, now available at around Eur 100.00, to be left in the highest pocket of the bag. It can be remotely activate giving you by email/gprs or sms, the exact position of the bag, the route that it made since the theft, and you can also listen to the rumors and voices around it. You can give all of these information to the Police in order to better find the thieves.
- Remember that most of public places and pubs or restaurant have video surveillance systems, useful to try to identificate the thief.
- Also if you have understand who is the thief, or you have found him with the GPS tracker, don’t act as an hero: call the police. The best camera is not worth your life.
Gmail HTML Signature
With the new Gmail signature format is simply possible to add rich text format and online picture in to the signature. But what if you want to add html code in order to add classic features like alternative text or new windows opening to the image or text in the signature? There is no way to add the code directly. What you have to do is easier to make than say.
These instruction are for those people that want to add an image with an alternative text and an hyperlink from the image to another site, and let it opening in a new window.
- Upload the image you want to use in the signature to a public server (like picasa web album, flickr, or other free image hosts but all of them must have public access) paying attention to the height of the image (too big images are ugly, but too little are incomprehensible).
- If the image is not too big (but you have to test it by yourself), you can convert it in to Base64 Mime Code (there are online tools that do it) and use the code in to the source field in the image html link. Remember that there is a limit in the signature lenght, so if your converted code is too long, Gmail won’t accept the signature.
- Create a text file (with a text editor like NotePad for Windows or TextEdit for Mac) with all the features you want in simple html, like the image source from the external public server, an alternative text, no border, the hyperlink to a site that will open in a new window.
- Save the text file directly as htm or rename it after save.
- Load it into a browser (Firefox, IE, Opera, what ever you want).
- Copy all you see in the browser with Ctrl-A followed by Ctrl-C (Command-A and Command-C in Mac).
- Open Gmail Settings.
- In the first tab of Gmail settings, past the previously copied signature in to the Gmail signature field with Ctrl-V (Command-V in Mac).
- Save Gmail Settings.
- That’s it.
Editing exif infos, sorting, browsing, storing and backing up photos
As you probably know, I am a backup maniac. I have multiple physical and online backups of all my data, particulary of all my photos and camera clips. And I also use Flickr service to backup all of them and share some of them too. So what happened let me decide about a lot of issues regarding my photos’ management.
Recently I had turned 35 years old, and for my birthday I made to myself an important gift: a Canon Eos 550D. Thanks to 550D photos’ resolution and size, and of Flickr Exif Page, I discovered that all vertical oriented photos of my collection have been modified with quality loss by iPhoto, also photos from the past, and I have uploaded to flickr not the originals but the modified ones. Moreover, now that I shot about one thousand photos for each month, iPhoto library was increasing in dimension very much because of a main big database file. And everytime I modify, add or delete a photo, an album, an event or simply I change something inside iPhoto management, iPhoto rebuilds this file. And this file takes a lot of time to be backed up online with Memopal because was around 10Gb the last time.
Meanwhile there was another issue I was mumbling for a long time: about to be still anonymous behind the nick of netnemo and about the property and copyright of my photos.
So I took the decision to dismiss iPhoto and started to rebuild my collection going back to the previosly used photo management without any database structured application but storing the photos as they are, sorting them by date, browsing them with application as ImageBrowser for mac or ZoomBrowser for Windows, storing them without anything else than original name (at least for the last photos, because I had already changed past photos’ names) and adding all the other information such as subjects, comments, author, copyright, etc, inside exif’s fields and backuping up both on flickr (using flickr uploader, that automatically rotates photos with lossless quality) and Memopal saving a lot of space and time.
Luckily, I have saved all my photos before passing to the Mac system so I have the original date sorted photos up to august 2007. I’m still working on sorting them again but at least I have selected all modified photos that I have uploaded to flickr. But before I started to upload them I worked to change exif information regarding Camera Owner’s Name, Author/Artist and Copyright. For this work I used ExifTool, today at version 8.28, a powerful command line tool, using exactly this configuration [between squares are my comment, that have to be avoid]:
-P [to preserve original file's date]
-r [to recurse subdirectories]
-overwrite_original_in_place [to do only if you have a backup of all your photos in an other place]
-OwnerName=your email [the best unique identifier for your equipment is always your email, useful also to let honest people to contact you directly; this field is not long, so pay attention to the email's lenght]
-Artist=your name and surname (your email) [to associate your contact information to the artist of the photo]
-Copyright=Copyright by your name and surname – All rights reserved [to clearly declare copyright information in every photo]
I saved these instructions to a file named ARGFILE.txt and typed the command “exiftool -@ DIR/ARGFILE.txt DIR-OF-PHOTOS” to start the process in the terminal window (DIR and DIR-OF-PHOTOS are the folders where are stored argfile.txt and the photos to be processed; you can find dir information with the mouse’s right click on the file/folder under windows systems, and with Command-I in Mac systems).
Last but not least, I wanted to have the date of the photo when it was taken in the creation date of the file too, and not only inside exif. Infact Mac OS X Snow Leopard changes it at the date of the downloaded or copied file from another support, and there is no possibility to see a finder’s column with the real shot date. I tried every combination with exiftool with the only result that it changes both creation and modification dates, while I want the modification date untouched, to preserve the downloaded date from the camera, and also I have tried any free application. But the only application that worked was a commercial one, A better finder attributes, and I am still using it also for the new photos I shot and download to the Mac, because the date problem is always present.
I hope that my situation and decisions will help other Canon and Mac user with their photos’ management. Of course, if you have better suggestions, comment this post, and we can discuss about them.
Gmail new look
Surprise!! At the opening of my email, this morning there were a lot of changes in layout and structure of the Gmail account. Infact Google Team announced these changes:

We’ve pruned our pixels and made it easier to get to Contacts and Tasks.
- Mail, Contacts, and Tasks links have moved to the top left of Gmail.
- Compose mail is now a button rather than a link.
- A smaller header area puts the first message in your inbox about 16 pixels higher on the screen.
- The Select All, None, Read, Unread, and Starred links that used to be above your messages are now options in a drop-down menu, next to the Archive button.
Updates to Contacts
We’ve also done a major overhaul to Contacts, adding a bunch of features you requested and making Contacts easier to use.
- Contacts work a lot more like Mail. Keyboard shortcuts now work in Contacts too, and we’ve made selecting and grouping contacts more like selecting and labeling email.
- Sort contacts by last name. Look under More actions for this option.
- Use custom labels for phone numbers and other fields. For example, you can label a phone number as “Vacation home.” Please be aware, ActiveSync for iPhone and Blackberry Sync don’t yet support custom labels so custom labeled numbers/emails/etc. may not appear on your phone.
- Undo. Now, when you make changes to your contacts, you can undo your recent changes.
- Automatic saving. You no longer need to worry about “edit” mode or “view” mode — just edit away and Gmail will save your changes.
- Structured name fields. You can now set name components (i.e. Title, First, Middle, Last and Suffix) explicitly or continue to use the name field as a free form area if you prefer a less structured approach.
- Manual and bulk contact merge. You can now merge contacts from the More actions menu. Just select the contacts you’d like to merge and select Merge contacts from under the More actions menu. Or, to get a list of suggestions for contacts to merge, select Find and merge duplicates.
What is not reported here is the link in Contacts to directly see “Other Contacts“, that are those contacts that Gmail suggests to you because you wrote to them at least one time. In the past, you had to scroll down to the whole contacts’ list to find them… now it is more simple and you can quickly decide if add them to My Contacts or delete them.
BTW, I need more than just few minutes to find possible bugs or bad structure decisions: using it is the best way to check new Gmail, wondering for more Gmail freespace.

Risolve un fenomeno nel quale l’apertura impostata cambia inaspettatamente quando si registra un filmato in modalità manuale utilizzando alcuni obiettivi Canon (come ad esempio gli obiettivi macro).
Color Accent post-processing software
It was a long time I was looking for Color Accent software because all the Canon cameras I got, don’t have Color Accent feature. Today I found it, but it is for windows users only. I hope to find something similar for Mac. Before this tool, I used to apply black and white to the whole photo, and used redo brush to get back colors on the portion selected. I will continue to use that method only for multicolor subjects, but for one color or color range it is faster the tool below.
Install Paint.Net and this set of filter from Kris Vandermotten in which you can find Color Accent. Just use the tool “Pick a Color” and apply the effect “Color Accent” pressing the arrow button or adjusting levels manually.
I have uploaded some samples on flickr (look at the window on the right) and I’m sure I will use this tool a lot.
Recensione Stilografica Sailor 1911 Standard Size Black GT Medium
1) Prime impressioni
Fu un successo lavorativo che mi spinse a premiarmi con una nuova penna stilografica il 25 marzo 2009. Mi trovavo a Torino e sapevo che vicino all’ufficio c’era uno dei più antichi e famosi negozi di penne stilografiche d’Italia, Torino Penna. C’ero già stato in passato così senza indugio mi sono diretto lì. Volevo una penna speciale, elegante ma al tempo stesso non facile da trovare. La titolare del negozio, una signora molto gentile esperta e competente, mi suggerì due penne ed una di queste era proprio questa Sailor 1911. Mi piacque subito appena la vidi, nera, lucente con la sua eleganza dai particolari dorati. La scatola era classica ma insieme alla penna c’era anche un converter e il libretto di manutenzione e garanzia.
2) Estetica e rifiniture
La penna è nero lucido con particolari placcati oro ed è perfetta nell’assemblaggio e nella fattura senza alcuna sbavatura. In generale la penna appare molto elegante e, anche se le dimensioni sono “standard”, molto solida. L’impugnatura è liscia ma la penna non scivola dalla mano.
3) Design, dimensioni e peso
La penna è realizzata in acrilico PMMA (Polimethilmethacrilato), un tipo di resina speciale. E’ a forma di sigaro non troppo grosso che infatti le conferisce il nome di “standard”. Le estremità della penna sono arrotondate e affusolate. il cappuccio è delimitato da due bande dorate di cui una, la più grossa e più vicina alla sezione, riporta la scritta “Sailor Japan Founded 1911″. La penna è molto ben bilanciata quando la si usa con il cappuccio mentre è forse troppo leggera senza cappuccio. Le sue dimensioni in mm sono: chiusa 134, stappata con cappuccio 146, senza cappuccio 116, lunghezza cappuccio 64, diametro cappuccio 14, lunghezza corpo 80, diametro corpo 12, lunghezza sezione impugnatura 17, diametro impugnatura 10, peso complessivo con converter gr. 20,3.
4) Design e performance del pennino
Il pennino ha una lunghezza di 19 mm e un’apertura alare di 8 mm. E’ in oro 14Kt giallo con tratto Medio ma molto più sottile di altri medi che possiedo, quasi un fine. Avevo tuttavia provato un fine nel negozio ma non mi era piaciuto perché troppo… fine. Nel complesso la dimensione del pennino è nella media. E’ un pennino rigido dal quale l’inchiostro usato (Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black bottiglia da 1000ml) fluisce bene e con continuità anche dopo svariate settimane di inutilizzo. Il sistema di capillarizzazione è in plastica multilamellare fino a poco sopra l’apertura alare massima. Il pennino si può svitare facilmente anche se io non ne ho ancora avuto bisogno ma dovrò farlo a breve per la consueta pulizia prima di riporre la penna nella vetrina. Sono molto soddisfatto delle caratteristiche di questo pennino, che è stato usato su carta per stampante laser, carta per quaderni e moleskine dando in ogni situazione ottimi risultati.
5) Sistema di ricarica
Anche se la penna può essere usata con le cartucce standard, visto che era presente un converter in dotazione, ho preferito l’uso di inchiostro in bottiglia. L’unico inconveniente è che, come per tutte le penne che usano i converter, la quantità di inchiostro incamerata è irrisoria anche in confronto a penne piccole a pistone come la Pelikan M150. In ogni caso il converter si incastra bene senza ballare o staccarsi nemmeno con l’uso del calamaio da viaggio della Visconti.
6) Costo / Valore
La penna fu pagata €120,00 al netto di un piccolo sconto di €30,00 ma non è stato questo a farmela scegliere, bensì le caratteristiche già menzionate. Il negozio dal quale l’ho presa, Torino Penna, si trova a Torino in via XX Settembre 4, vicino a Piazza Carlo Magno. La garanzia è di 2 anni e la penna era nuova al momento dell’acquisto. Da quello che vedo ora, dopo più di un anno di utilizzo con molti intervalli di fermo, valeva tutti i soldi spesi e si colloca in una posizione media nella mia collezione. In genere ho fatto sempre ottimi acquisti da Torino Penna, tra penne inchiostri e portapenne.
7) Opinione complessiva e conclusioni
Nel complesso sono molto soddisfatto dell’acquisto. L’avevo vista solo su FPN in passato e avrei voluto prendere la sorella maggiore ma il prezzo era eccessivo e tutto sommato per le mie piccole mani questa penna va benissimo. Come eleganza si posiziona tra le più belle della mia collezione, per valore si posiziona invece a metà. Potendo tornare indietro la ricomprerei uguale e sicuramente la raccomando ad altri.
Curiosa scoperta
Ho da poco scoperto che uno dei lettori e partecipanti più entusiasti del mio blog è il padre di un mio collega. Lo saluto cordialmente e, visto che ci sono, gli faccio anche i complimenti per la bontà e delicatezza del suo olio che è stato molto apprezzato da me e dalle persone alle quali l’ho regalato.
Titolo di Ingegnere Junior nei biglietti da visita…
Avendo conseguito il titolo di Dottore in Ingegneria, nonché l’abilitazione alla Professione di Ingegnere e l’autorizzazione ad operare come Ingegnere Junior per il settore Industriale, ora mi chiedo… e nei biglietti da visita cosa ci scrivo? Idem per la carta intestata, i timbri personali e la firma nella email… Infatti il timbro dell’Ordine non lo decido io e devo ancora ritirarlo.
Lo chiederò sicuramente all’Ordine alla prossima riunione ma voglio anche vedere se i miei lettori conoscono la forma giusta. Non mi riferisco ovviamente a cosa è più elegante nel biglietto piuttosto che nella signature delle email, ma proprio alla forma giusta e corretta che non si scontri con il codice deontologico.
Ho chiuso il poll e quindi i vostri voti non verranno aggiunti in quanto oltre ad aver avuto più voti degli altri qui, anche l’Ordine mi ha confermato sia a voce che per iscritto che la forma corretta è “Ing. Jr.” quando è compresso, “Ingegner Junior” quando è esteso. Poi sarebbe sempre meglio farlo seguire dalla propria specializzazione, quindi nel mio caso, da “Ingegnere Gestionale Industriale” che comprende il titolo di abilitazione (che non ha la dicitura junior), il campo della laurea (gestionale, senza indirizzi interni) e il campo professionale al quale di conseguenza appartengo (industriale).
Ho già in mano biglietti da visita, timbri, etichette e carte intestate per usi futuri. Grazie a tutti per la collaborazione.

La mia iscrizione all’Ordine è stata approvata oggi con il numero 333 sezione B (Junior) settore B (Industriale) come si può facilmente verificare dal loro sito: www.ingegneri-ca.net .
Sono orgoglioso di farne parte e attendo un’assemblea generale per poter visionare attività o commissioni alle quali poter partecipare non ché poter visionare materiale informativo sull’Ordine e sugli obblighi degli iscritti.
Da oggi sono abilitato alla Professione di Ingegnere
Oggi, con l’orale della seconda sessione 2009, ho passato l’Esame di Stato conseguendo il Diploma di abilitazione alla Professione di Ingegnere, sezione B (Junior), settore Industriale. Sono molto contento di questo ulteriore traguardo raggiunto e non appena rientro a Cagliari presento domanda di iscrizione all’Ordine degli Ingegneri della Provincia di Cagliari.
Spero che questo titolo mi permetta di crescere e migliorarmi nel mondo del lavoro sia attuale che futuro.
Aumento Caselle Postali di Posteitaliane S.p.A.
Oggi le Posteitaliane S.p.A. hanno annunciato un aumento delle tariffe per i casellisti postali, con aumenti fino a quattro volte (300%) superiori rispetto a quelli del 2009. Quindi per quelli come me, che usavano la casella postale a scopo protezione privacy + gestione vacanze, il costo diventa insostenibile in quanto non lo possiamo scaricare. Qui sotto ho preparato una tabella riepilogativa per rendere meglio l’idea sull’aumento dei costi. In realtà l’annuncio delle Posteitaliane parla di possibilità di estendere l’uso della Casella Postale fino a due familiari e di richiedere il servizio Fax ma non specifica se questi servizi sono inclusi gratuitamente o sono opzionali a pagamento.

Aggiornamento firmware lettore DVD Samsung DVD-H1080
Oggi ho risolto un grande problema per tutti i possessori del lettore dvd in oggetto: l’aggiornamento del firmware. Infatti qualche minuto fa ho aggiornato con successo il mio lettore. Il mio modello è quello nero lucido europeo, ma penso che la procedura sia uguale per tutti i modelli.
Ieri ho comprato questo modello per vari motivi tra cui il prezzo basso, aver letto che era performante e che supportava molti formati da fonti diverse (cd, cdr, cdrw, dvd, dvdr, dvdrw, usb) e soprattutto perché ha un bel design, lontano dai classici scatolotti. Ho pensato fosse perfetto per stare vicino alla mia TV LCD Samsung in cucina.
Non appena sono arrivato a casa ho subito scaricato il firmware ed ho provato tutti i metodi suggeriti dal manuale più qualche variante per aggiornare l’apparecchio anche mettendo il file in una pen drive vuota. In questo modo ho brucato solo un paio di cdr e un dvdr perché ho perlopiù usato riscrivibili, ma in ogni caso non c’era verso: ogni supporto risultava illeggibile.
Ma oggi ho provato qualcosa di differente basandomi sul fatto che ho tranquillamente aggiornato il firmware del TV LCD Samsung da una pen drive, ho puntato su questo sistema…. E CI SONO RIUSCITO!!!
Tutto quello che dovete fare è:
- rinominate il lunghissimo nome del file in H1080A.bin.
- copiatelo nella directory principale della pen drive insieme a files multimediali leggibili e inserite la pen drive con il lettore dvd spento.
- accendete il lettore dvd e attendete la finestra di aggiornamento in cui vi fa vedere la vostra versione firmware e la nuova proposta per verificare se ne avete bisogno.
- cliccate su Play se volete procedere con l’aggiornamento e aspettate.
- ad aggiornamento completato l’unità si spegnerà da sola.
- se volete essere sicuri di aver aggiornato il firmware ripetete il punto 3 verificando la versione installata con quella proposta. Se sono identiche spegnete l’apparecchio. Altrimenti proseguite con il punto 4.
- Rimuovete la pen drive e cancellate il file con il computer al fine di poter usare la pen drive con files multimediali.
Spero che queste informazioni possano aiutare i fan della Samsung.
PS: La mia pen drive era da 2Gb formattata FAT32 con qualche file multimediale come jpg, mp3, avi, divx, mpg, ecc..

Samsung DVD-H1080 Player firmware upgrade
Today I solved a big issue for all the owners of the dvd player in subject: firmware upgrade. Infact about 5 minutes ago I upgraded mine. My version is the european black version but I think the procedure is identycal for all models.
Yesterday I bought it because it is cheap, performant and first of all, it is beautiful, not squared like all the others dvd player. It is perfect for my LCD TV in the kitchen.
As soon as I arrived at my home I downloaded the firmware and tryed every way to upgrade my unit following instructions on manual and also trying to put the file in a pen drive. I burnt a couple of cdr only because I used cdrw and one dvd+rw but there were no reason: it didn’t work.
But today I tryed something different: thinking about Samsung LCD TV firmware upgrade that worked well from a pen drive, I worked on it also for the player… and I DID IT!!!
All you have to do is:
- rename the long name file with H1080A.bin.
- copy it to the main directory with some media files and insert it with the player turned off.
- turn on the player and wait for the prompt to check if you have already the last version installed.
- push play and wait.
- the unit will shut off automatically at the end.
- if you want to be sure you have upgraded your unit leave the pen drive and repeat point 3 checking versions’ comparison. If versions are the same, turn off the player, otherwise go on to point 4.
- remove pen drive and delete the firmware file in order to use the pen for multimedia files.
I hope this procedure will help all of Samsung fans.

A new free community for antiques, vintage & art object enthusiasts
If you are a vintage objects lover, you should visit @Quid, a new free website built by a collector with the aim to help other vintage collectors, antique lovers and also guests finding good deals or sharing experiences too. It is very interesting and you can find any kind of information or the item you were looking for a long time.
It is not a new entry but I waited for some months before talking about it, just to see if it have had a future or not. And it have grown up faster for sure!
Alan Ehrlich, the website ideator and manager is not newbie either of the web either of the vintage world. I know him by Linkedin because we share fountain pens passion.

Il TetraPak, questo sconosciuto…
Quanti di voi usano alimenti imballati nel TetraPak? E quanti di voi si sono chiesti come sia possibile che quello che una volta si diceva essere prodotto ottimo per la conservazione ma pessimo per il riciclaggio sia diventato addirittura un prodotto amico dell’ambiente?!? Anche io mi sono posto questi dubbi e ho fatto una piccola ricerca, scremando i siti non attendibili o troppo sponsorizzati e sono arrivato ad un sito in particolare. Se volete saperne di più sul TetraPak, dovete prima leggervi il sito ufficiale Tiriciclo e poi l’EcoBlog in modo da avere una chiara visione della faccenda. Da tenere conto che in Sardegna ad esempio, c’è un solo comune che esegue il riciclaggio del TetraPak ed è quello di Oristano. In tutti gli altri comuni o viene mandato in discarica o viene bruciato.
Recensione: Ristorante “Taverna Greca” a Torino
Sono a Torino ormai dal 5 gennaio 2009 per questioni lavorative e anche se la stanza del residence dove alloggio è dotata di una piccola zona cottura, i fornelli oltre ad essere elettrici sono anche molto vicini all’armadio dove ci sono le camicie. Per cui cerco di cucinare in camera il meno possibile al fine di evitare caldo inutile e puzza sui vestiti e mi limito solo a quando non sto bene e comunque solo a cucinare pasta/minestra. Di conseguenza è per me molto importante mangiare bene e sano, sia a pranzo che a cena, in modo da avere energie sufficienti per lavorare, un apporto nutritivo equilibrato e non essere appesantito dal cibo. Ho trovato infatti che la cucina Torinese è per me un po’ pesantina, con pizzerie che fanno grande uso di olio sulle pizze e pietanze molto fritte. Girando per i dintorni dell’albergo la sera del 18 gennaio, sono andato alla ricerca di un ristorante che non fosse pizzeria e dopo meno di 10 minuti sono incappato in questo ristorante greco in Via Monginevro 29 a Torino. Al che ho pensato che sicuramente non era cucina torinese e che valeva la pena provare, al massimo non ci sarei più tornato.
Il nome del ristorante è “Taverna Greca” (Ελληνική Ταβέρνα) e anche se all’epoca il ristorante aveva appena aperto e per alcuni giorni sono rimasto l’unico cliente italiano (i greci hanno subito sparso la notizia) sia il titolare e capo cuoco Ilia Jerasi (Ηλεία) che l’altro cuoco Christos (Χρήστος), sono stati subito gentilissimi spiegandomi i vari ingredienti e la preparazione di tutti i piatti, tant’è che ad oggi vado regolarmente a mangiare da loro in media 2-3 volte a settimana. Da quallo che mi ha detto Elias, fin’ora sono stato il cliente italiano più “vecchio” e più fedele.
Il locale si presenta molto bello, luminoso, solare ed accogliente, al contrario di quanto il nome taverna può far pensare all’italiano medio. Il servizio è competente e veloce.
Ho avuto modo di provare tutte le pietanze del menù, i vini sfusi, la birra greca, il retsina e soprattutto l’ouzo (ούζο) di fine pasto (da prendere liscio ma ghiacciato), ma anche il Metaxa (Μεταξά), un brandy greco. Sono sempre molto soddisfatto dopo che esco dal ristorante e non mi sono mai pentito. Anche la Mussaka (μουσακάς), che generalmente è molto pesante, viene fatta in modo particolare che non è ovviamente leggerissima ma per lo meno non è un mattone per lo stomaco. Tutti i secondi sono accompagnati da una pita divisa in quattro che serve per mangiare la salsa tzatziki (τζατζίκι) inclusa nel piatto insieme ad insalata verde, pomodori olive e patate al forno. Quindi in genere un secondo è un piatto completo. I prezzi sono molto buoni per piatti così pieni, genuini e gustosi, soprattutto se paragoniamo i listini di molti altri ristoranti a Torino. Quasi tutto quello che viene servito arriva direttamente dalla grecia e il tutto è preparato e cucinato da loro stessi. Hanno anche una buona dotazione di vini locali piemontesi, di vini italiani e di vini greci famosi. Al momento della recensione non sono presenti primi o secondi di pesce, ma solo carni, formaggi, insalate e dolci.
I gestori sono così cordiali che ho finito per farci amicizia e quindi sono rimasto particolarmente contento quando hanno ricevuto un certificato di qualità da alcuni critici venuti presso di loro. A breve sarà esposto in bella vista, ma in realtà sono il passaparola e le recensioni di noi clienti abitudinari e non, la vera forza di questo ottimo ristorante. Ogni tanto, aggiungono qualche nuovo piatto al menù e sono previsti lavori di ampliamento delle cucine nel periodo di ferie estive (ma non è certa la notizia, in quanto tutto dipenderà dal flusso turistico).
Se siete Torinesi, e cercate un ristorante diverso dalla solita cucina ma sicuro dal punto di vista alimentare la “Taverna Greca” fa sicuramente per voi. Anche se siete in trasferta per turismo o lavoro questo ristorante è un’ottima scelta, visto che i cibi sono gustosi e mai pesanti.
Siccome il locale è molto ambito, per evitare di dover aspettare, Vi consiglio caldamente di prenotare cercando di rispettare il numero dei commensali dichiarato, al fine di non creare disagio a voi, agli altri clienti ed al personale.

Flickr Changes: from 150Mb to 500Mb for Video (but still 90 seconds)
Today I noticed that the maximum allowed size of video to upload is 500Mb against the previous of 150Mb. I don’t know if it is a real change or just a mistake of the webmaster. The lenght of the video is still 90 seconds (it can be longer, but the first 90 seconds will be visible only). Maybe it has been upgraded because of HD 90 secs videos from cameras and videocameras are bigger than 150Mb. I hope that Flickr will allow to upload bigger and longer video in the future. I can pay an extra for this feature.
Update: this news was published on Flickr Blog 2 days later of mine. Maybe they read mine

About new NiMH technologies
I was looking around to find some good brand NiMH AA cells for continuous shots in my camera, and I found those Sanyo Eneloop. It has been a long time since I have bought a NiMH AA cell because of I feel good using Energizer Ultimate Lithium. In fact I don’t take pictures everyday in continuous mode but sometimes, once a month, I can shot around 300-500 pics in 2 days because of a trip or something else. So I looked for a independent review and I found this one. I think I will buy a 4 AA + 4 AAA pack, because of the features of these batteries. In fact I have other AA NiMH cells that had lost all the capacity and are not rechargeable anymore.
Gmail is 5 years old!!
Five years ago Google proposed a webmail with 1Gb of space. A lot of people thought about an April Fool’s Day, because of it was announced on April 1st, and only few people in the world received the invitation to open a Gmail (Google Mail).
It was the beginning of a new era for the email boxes all over the world. Now Gmail has over 7Gb of space and counting on.
New management for my web sites
Yesterday I finished to configure the new management for my site, considering I have no more time for them, I decided to continue to use duninet.com as a portal for my pages and profiles and for other sites I manage directly or for future relatives’ sites. I also continue to manage the Confconsumatori Sardegna web site. But all my other domains point to dedicated sites that I have only to configure and fill them, not to manage and control against hacker attacks. And I don’t need to duplicate informations and news about me as I did before, because this blog on WordPress.com is synchronized with my two profiles. Look at my portal DuniNet to test it. I have also created some catchall forwarding emails within my domains in order to avoid to loose some emails.
We have to make choices in our life, and I don’t want to use all my free time trying to resolve problems of my sites.

They worked to resolve an issue about an account duplication with mixing of email and Yahoo ID that prevent me to register one of my email on my pro account. Now all things are ok, because italian team found what I needed and passed the ball to the american team. Not a fast solution, because it needed 14 days from the first help request, but sure it worked!

3 Marzo 2009: Ordinanza del Ministero della Salute sui cani
Queste le principali novità del provvedimento, che entrerà in vigore il giorno successivo alla pubblicazione in Gazzetta Ufficiale:
Eliminata la “black list”
La nuova ordinanza reca sostanziali novità rispetto a quelle proposte dai ministri precedenti. in particolare è stato eliminato l’allegato a riportante un elenco senza riferimento scientifico in letteratura di medicina veterinaria di razze “pericolose”, in quanto non è possibile stabilire il rischio di una maggiore aggressività di un cane in base alla loro razza o loro incroci.
Introdotta la responsabilita civile e penale dei proprietari
Ai fini della prevenzione del rischio di aggressione da parte di cani è stato attribuito un ruolo fondamentale alla responsabilità dei proprietari.
Il proprietario di un cane, infatti, è sempre responsabile del benessere e del controllo del proprio animale, pertanto risponde sia civilmente, che penalmente dei danni o lesioni che questi arreca a persone, animali o cose.
Nota:
La Suprema Corte di Cassazione – sezione IV penale con sentenza 3 aprile – 8 settembre 2008, n. 34765 ha affermato che: in caso di lesioni cagionate dall’aggressione di un cane, nella fattispecie di grossa taglia, affidato dal proprietario ad un terzo (nel caso di specie la moglie) non in grado di controllare l’animale e quindi di impedire l’evento lesivo, deve riconoscersi la concorrente responsabilità del proprietario non in virtù di una responsabilità oggettiva bensì in ragione degli obblighi che per lui derivano dalla posizione di garanzia collegata al fatto di essere lui solo la persona che dispone dell’animale e che può controllarne le reazioni.
Obbligo di utilizzo del guinzaglio in ogni luogo
Viene introdotto per la prima volta l’obbligo di utilizzare sempre il guinzaglio ad una misura non superiore a mt. 1,50 per i cani condotti nelle aree urbane e nei luoghi aperti al pubblico – fatte salve le aree per cani individuate dai comuni – e di avere sempre con sé la museruola (rigida o morbida) da applicare in caso di potenziale pericolo, nonché l’obbligo di affidare il proprio animale solo a persone in grado di gestirlo. Il proprietario ed il detentore devono, inoltre, assumere informazioni sulle caratteristiche fisiche ed etologiche dei cani e sulle normative in vigore.
Percorsi formativi per i proprietari di cani
Per favorire la formazione e l’acquisizione di adeguate cognizioni sulla corretta detenzione di un cane e ai fini della prevenzione di danni o lesioni ad altri, i comuni congiuntamente con i servizi veterinari delle asl, avvalendosi anche degli ordini professionali dei medici veterinari, delle associazioni di medici veterinari, delle facoltà di medicina veterinaria e delle associazioni di protezione degli animali, devono mettere a disposizione dei percorsi formativi per i proprietari di cani. tali percorsi formativi, con rilascio di specifica attestazione denominata patentino divengono obbligatori per i proprietari di “cani impegnativi” identificati a livello territoriale.
Registro dei cani morsicatori e con problemi di comportamento a cura delle ASL
I servizi veterinari, nel caso in cui rilevino un rischio, stabiliscono le misure di prevenzione e la necessità di eventuali interventi terapeutici comportamentali cui devono essere sottoposti i “cani impegnativi” e tengono un registro aggiornato di tali soggetti.
Ruolo dei medici veterinari libero professionisti
Per la prima volta in italia viene conferito un ruolo anche ai medici veterinari libero professionisti in materia di prevenzione. a loro infatti spetta l’informazione dei proprietari di cani che transitano dalle loro strutture rispetto alla possibilità o alla necessità di conseguire “il patentino”. inoltre vengono posti in rete con i servizi veterinari pubblici al fine di segnalare situazioni a rischio a tutela della salute pubblica.
Assicurazione obbligatoria di responsabilità civile per cani iscritti nel registro
I proprietari dei cani iscritti nel registro devono obbligatoriamente stipulare una polizza di assicurazione di responsabilità civile e applicare contestualmente guinzaglio e museruola al proprio animale quando si trovano in aree urbane e nei luoghi aperti al pubblico.
Obbligo della raccolta delle feci
E’ fatto obbligo a chiunque conduca il cane in ambito urbano raccoglierne le feci e avere con sé strumenti idonei alla raccolta delle stesse.
Altri divieti
Confermato il divieto di addestramento inteso ad esaltare l’aggressività dei cani, le operazioni di selezione ed incrocio tese allo stesso fine, la pratica del doping, gli interventi chirurgici destinati a modificare la morfologia dell’animale (recisione delle corde vocali, taglio delle orecchie e taglio della coda), fatto salvi gli interventi curativi certificati dal medico veterinario.
Fountain Pen Review: Pelikan M1000 Green Stripes Medium
1) First impressions
The M1000 has been my dream since I bought my first Pelikan, but I have always been stopped by its prohibitive price. I was always attracted by the combination of big nib, big size, pen lightness and internal solid brass mechanism. Whereas it is the Pelikan Souverän series flagship it has been paid very low on ebay and the shipment from a german private person was fast. The package was perfect but the pen, not being sold by an official dealer, was provided without the deluxe package which would have had a TG1 ink bottle with pen rest, in addition to the included standard soft cardboard box with the hard cardboard inside. Inside the box there was not even the instructions/maintenance/warranty booklet and to my request of explanations, the seller quickly told me that I had a warranty of 1 year with him but at the 99.999% I would not have needed of it. However, the pen was a gift from my girlfriend and never look a gift horse in the mouth.
The initial impact was very exciting for me and today I am still surprised by many of its characteristics and when I hold it in my hand I always feel good.
2) Aesthetics and finishing
As for all other Pelikan pens owned by me, also this pen is perfect or it is perhaps even more better being the Souverän series flagship. The pen is in the classic version with semitransparent green stripes, black resin for handle, knob and cap and 23Kt gold-plated trims. It’s completely diamond polished and has no smearing of any kind even though the green rows are not perfectly parallel to the pen axis. I am very satisfied with the overall quality of construction that obviously was not clear from the photos.
3) Design, size and weight
The pen is in a diamond polished acrylic. The shape is the Pelikans’ classic cylindrical shape with rounded ends and on the cap tip there is the golden Pelikan symbol. The clip is shaped like a pelican beak with eyes close to the cap tip. Both at the base of the cap and at the base of the plunger knob there are 2 gold-plated bands which give even more emphasis to the majesty of this pen that live is much more beautiful and enjoyable than I could expect. The pen is over-sized and infact it is long 146 mm capped, 135 mm uncapped, 177 mm posted, while its weight is of gr. 33.3. The cap alone measure 70 mm. The diameters are: 12 mm for handle, 14.5 mm for body, 15 mm for cap. Having small hands the pen is more comfortable uncapped for me but it can also be used posted without compromising the balance.
4) Nib design and performance
The maxi nib is 18Kt solid bicolour gold and its stroke is Medium. I chose Medium because with the M200 I experienced that with Fine the ink lasts for too long and in this way I have more opportunity to experiment with new inks or get rid of one if I am bored of it; infact you have to consider how much ink can be hold in this pen, I like change ink from time to time, and that I have large stocks of Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black. However it seems slightly larger than M150 medium. It’s absolutely rigid and runs well on any type of paper. The flow is slightly abundant but not so much to bleed through the Quablock by Pigna paper sheet, just as much for what is necessary to use blotting papers when you turn the sheet if you do not want to wait that the ink dries. The feed system is a classic Pelikan with horizontal plastic strips that, whereas the nib size, are many and thin. Everything is easily unscrewable for replacements, repairs, or for easier pen cleaning.
As pen for greeting cards, for letters and diary I am very pleased because even though the nib is big it is very comfortable. Unfortunately in Moleskine the amount of ink that comes out from the nib slightly bleeds through the sheet and has also a little feathering effect. Instead it is perfect with Ciak paper. The nib measures are: length 26 mm, wingspan 9 mm.
5) Filling System
The M1000 has a classic filling piston system but its peculiarity is almost invisible from the outside and it’s that all components are made of solid brass and are virtually indestructible. The pen ink capacity is significant also if you remove the classic three drops after initial filling, but given the medium-broad nib and the flow a little abundant, the ink doesn’t really last for too long but as I have already written, it is a solution that I have personally selected and then I am satisfied with it. I think that the plunger moves really well without any problems and it is interesting to see quickly and significantly decrease of the ink bottles level when the pen is being filled.
6) Cost / Value
Although the pen has been donated to me for my birthday by my girlfriend, I know that its price was € 225.00, bought on ebay from mundo_handel, unofficial dealer that provides a one-year warranty with him. The purchase was made on June 12nd 2008, with € 15.00 for shipping costs. I think it’s odd that Pelikan does not provide a lifetime warranty for its Souverän series flagship pen. Other brands do it for their flagships thence giving more value to the pens especially in the large collectors’ market. My girlfriend felt very good as buyer with mundo_handel and I think that she did a good deal whereas the pen has an official almost double price.
7) Overall opinion and conclusions
I think the M1000 will remain the flagship of my pen collection, not only because I have always dreamed of it and it was a gift from my girlfriend, but also because it was much better than I expected, unlike other pens of superior cost. For someone the green striped color sounds a little bit vintage but I really like it because of semitransparent effects that permits almost to see the mechanism and the ink. The Pelikan site is unable to convey the emotions that you feel holding this pen, not even with pictures of the black version. I know that there is also a version with silver trim and cap and is called the M1050 but I wouldn’t like it because as I have seen with other pens, silver, becoming dark and oxidized, will ruin the aesthetics. I suggest to buy the M1000 for sure, especially if it is still at this price.
Recensione Stilografica Pelikan M1000 Green Stripes Medium
1) Prime impressioni
La M1000 è stata il mio sogno fin da quando ho comprato la prima Pelikan, ma è sempre rimasto tale per via del prezzo proibitivo.
Mi ha sempre attratto il connubio tra maxi pennino, maxi dimensioni, leggerezza della penna e componenti interni in ottone. Per essere l’ammiraglia delle Pelikan è stata pagata poco su ebay e la spedizione da un privato tedesco è stata velocissima. Il pacco era perfetto ma la penna, non essendo venduta da un rivenditore ufficiale, mi è stata fornita senza la confezione deluxe che avrebbe avuto una boccetta di inchiostro ma con la scatola standard di cartoncino morbido esterno e cartone duro per quella interna. All’interno della scatola non era presente neanche il libretto di istruzioni manutenzione e garanzia e alla mia richiesta di spiegazioni il venditore si è affrettato a dirmi che avevo un anno di garanzia presso di lui ma che al 99.999% non ne avrei avuto bisogno. Comunque la penna è stata un regalo della mia ragazza e a caval donato non si guarda in bocca.
Nonostante ciò, l’impatto iniziale è stato per me molto emozionante e ancora oggi mi meravigliano molte sue caratteristiche e tenerla in mano mi da sempre belle sensazioni.
2) Estetica e rifiniture
Come per tutte le altre Pelikan da me possedute anche questa è perfetta o forse lo è ancor di più essendo l’ammiraglia. La penna è nella classica versione a righe verde semitrasparenti, con impugnatura pomello e cappuccio neri e particolari placcati oro 23Kt. E’ completamente lucidata a diamante e non ha sbavature di alcun tipo anche se le righe verdi non sono perfettamente parallele all’asse della penna.
Sono complessivamente molto soddisfatto della qualità di costruzione che ovviamente era impossibile capire dalle foto.
3) Design, dimensioni e peso
La penna è in acrilico lucidato a diamante. La forma è la classica delle Pelikan, a forma cilindrica con estremità bombate e sull’estremità del cappuccio c’è il simbolo Pelikan dorato. La clip ha la forma di un becco di pellicano con gli occhi vicino all’attaccatura. Sia alla base del cappuccio che alla base del pomolo dello stantuffo ci sono 2 fascette dorate che danno ancor più risalto alla maestosità di questa penna che dal vivo è molto più bella e piacevole di quanto mi potessi aspettare.
La grandezza della penna è over-size e infatti è lunga chiusa 146 mm, stappata 135 mm, aperta con cappuccio 177 mm, mentre il suo peso è di gr. 33.3. Il tappo da solo misura 70 mm. I diametri sono: impugnatura 12 mm, corpo 14.5 mm, tappo 15 mm.
Avendo la mano piccola per me la penna è più comoda senza tappo ma è utilizzabile anche con questo senza comprometterne il bilanciamento.
4) Design e performance del pennino
Il maxi pennino è in oro 18Kt bicolore e il suo tratto è medio. Ho scelto medio perché con la M200 ho potuto sperimentare che Fine fa durare troppo l’inchiostro della penna e visto quanto ce ne sta nella penna e che a me piace cambiare inchiostro ogni tanto e che ho anche grandi scorte di Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black, in questo modo ho più possibilità anche di sperimentare nuovi inchiostri o di liberarmi di uno se mi annoia. Mi sembra comunque leggermente più grosso del tratto medio della M150. E’ assolutamente rigido e scorre bene su qualsiasi tipo di carta. Il flusso dell’inchiostro è leggermente abbondante ma non da trapassare il foglio di carta Quablock by Pigna, giusto quel tanto per il quale si rende necessario l’uso della carta assorbente quando si gira il foglio se non si vuole rimanere ad aspettare che l’inchiostro asciughi. Il sistema di capillarizzazione è il classico Pelikan a lamelle orizzontali in plastica che, vista la grandezza del pennino, sono molte e sottili. Il tutto è svitabile facilmente per sostituzioni, riparazioni o per una più facile pulizia della penna.
Come penna per biglietti di auguri, per diario e per lettere sono molto soddisfatto perché pur essendo grande il pennino è molto comodo. Purtroppo nei Moleskine la quantità di inchiostro che fuoriesce dal pennino trapassa leggermente il foglio e fa anche l’effetto peluria. Invece con la carta Ciak è perfetto. Misure pennino: lunghezza 26 mm, larghezza alare 9 mm.
5) Sistema di ricarica
La M1000 ha un sistema di ricarica classico a pistone ma la sua particolarità è quasi invisibile dal di fuori e consiste nel fatto che tutti i componenti sono in ottone massiccio e quindi praticamente indistruttibili.
La capacità della penna è notevole anche tolte le classiche tre gocce iniziali dopo il caricamento, ma visto il tratto medio grosso e il flusso un po’ abbondante, non dura poi tanto ma come ho già scritto, è un abbinamento che ho scelto personalmente e quindi mi sono soddisfatto.
Trovo che lo stantuffo scorra veramente bene senza alcun problema ed è interessante veder scendere velocemente e sensibilmente il livello delle boccette quando la penna si riempie.
6) Costo / Valore
Nonostante la penna mi sia stata regalata per il mio compleanno dalla mia fidanzata, so che il suo prezzo era di € 225.00, comprata su ebay da mundo_handel, rivenditore non ufficiale che fornisce un anno di garanzia presso di lui. L’acquisto è stato effettuato il 12 Giugno 2008, con € 15.00 di spese di spedizione.
Trovo strano che la Pelikan non fornisca una garanzia a vita per la sua ammiraglia. Altre case lo fanno dando così ancor più valore alla penna soprattutto nel grande mercato dei collezionisti. La mia ragazza si è trovata molto bene come acquirente e penso che abbia fatto un affare visto che la penna ha un prezzo ufficiale che è quasi doppio.
7) Opinione complessiva e conclusioni
Penso che la M1000 rimarrà a lungo la penna ammiraglia della mia collezione, non solo perché l’ho sempre sognata e poi mi è stata regalata dalla mia anima gemella ma anche perché è risultata molto migliore di quanto mi aspettassi al contrario di altre penne pagate anche di più.
Ad alcuni la colorazione a righe verdi può sembrare troppo vintage ma a me piace molto per via dell’effetto di semitrasparenza del meccanismo e dell’inchiostro.
Il sito Pelikan non riesce a trasmettere le emozioni che si provano impugnando questo gioiello, neanche con le foto della versione nera. So che esiste anche una versione con finiture e cappuccio in argento massiccio e si chiama M1050 ma non mi sarebbe piaciuta perché come ho potuto constatare con altre penne, l’argento scuro e ossidato ne rovinerebbe l’estetica.
Consiglio sicuramente l’acquisto, soprattutto se si trova ancora a questo prezzo.
Fountain Pen Review: Pelikan M200 Demonstrator Anthracite Fine
1) First impressions
I have always liked the demo models especially when the filling system is not with cartridge. I have seen this pen for the first time online on ebay, but the various models were always among auctions and the final prices plus shipping costs were not worth spending over the candle, despite its gray actracted me, more and more. One day I stopped at the shop Cartoleria Dettori in Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy) to see which pen they had and it was there and looked at me and it looked like it was waiting for me. So I bought it.
The box was a classic Pelikan soft cardboard with a hard cardboard inside with warranty, loading and maintenance booklet.
2) Aesthetics and finishing
The pen is “diamond” polished transparent gray plastic with gold plated trims. Like all other Pelikan pens it is perfectly assembled with no imperfections or smudged and it seems better than in photos.
3) Design, size and weight
As I have already written, the pen is in transparent grey plastic, with classic cylindrical shape, curved ends and cap tip with golden pelican. The clip is shaped like a pelican beak with eyes at the beginning. There is a golden ring at the base of the pin for piston movement. The pen measures 125 mm capped, 121 mm uncapped, 146 mm posted, 57.5 mm cap lenght, 12 mm body diameter, 13 m cap diameter, 9.5 mm grip diameter. The size is average-regular and its weight is of gr. 13.8. When in use the pen is well balanced, comfortable and easy to handle with and without cap which, weighing very low, has almost no effect.
4) Nib design and performance
The gold plated stiff steel nib measures 19 mm in length and wingspan 6.5 mm. The stroke is fine and I chose it because it was the only way I found it. Compared to the medium of the M150 is definitely a fine stroke and probably the nibs are of the same series. However, it is flowing and smooth on all types of paper. The ink doesn’t dry easily in the nib but does not stay too much even on paper.
The classical feed system is in plastic with horizontal strips. The nib is unscrewable like all Pelikan nibs and can be replaced with one from the same series, as well as allowing easy maintenance of the pen.
5) Filling system
The M200 has a classic piston filling system operated directly at the extreme end of the body. The system components are in plastic because the pen is in a low level class.
Considering the classic three drops to extract immediately after filling, the pen can hold a quantity of ink that allows prolonged use without the fear that the ink will end ahead of schedule. In any case, pen grip and nib are compatible with Stipula Netto Netto and Visconti traveling ink systems .
6) Cost / Value
When I saw the pen on ebay, italian auctions ended always around € 70.00 plus shipping costs and the foreigners buy-now were € 60.00 plus shipping costs to Italy and then they were equivalent. Then I bought it on January 17th, 2008 at the dealer Cartoleria Dettori in Cagliari and I paid it € 60.00 new, and considering that is a demo out of production and that the pen is really beautiful in this transparent gray, I believe I have done a good deal. Warranty, for all Pelikans, is for 3 years but I think I will never benefit of it if has the same reliability of the M150.
I feel good buying at Cartoleria Dettori where in the past I could buy some rare pieces on behalf of members of FPN, too.
7) Overall opinion and conclusions
Considering as advertising the information collected on FPN, on ebay auctions and on the Pelikan site, I can say that they have well described the pen even if the light changes everything in a photo. In my collection the pen is placed in an intermediate position, not so much for the value, which is average-low, but for the peculiarity of the pen, now rare, which was also produced in other demo (and non demo) colorations. Undoubtedly I would buy the pen again, and I suggest to anybody that found a M200 still around to take it for collection or personal use and not as an investment.

1) Prime impressioni
Mi sono sempre piaciuti i modelli Demo soprattutto quando il caricamento non è a cartuccia. Ho visto online su ebay per la prima volta questa penna ma i vari modelli erano sempre all’asta e tra prezzo finale e spese di spedizione la spesa non valeva più la candela, nonostante il suo grigio mi attirasse sempre di più. Un giorno mi sono fermato presso la Cartoleria Dettori a Cagliari per vedere che penne avevano e lei era lì che mi guardava e sembrava che mi aspettasse.
La scatola era classica Pelikan in cartoncino morbido esterno e duro per quella interna e con libretto di garanzia, caricamento e manutenzione.
2) Estetica e rifiniture
La penna è in plastica trasparente grigia lucidata “a diamante” con rifiniture dorate. Come per tutte le altre Pelikan la penna è assemblata perfettamente senza imperfezioni o sbavature e sembra meglio che nelle foto.
3) Design, dimensioni e peso
Come ho già scritto la penna è in plastica trasparente grigia, con classica forma cilindrica, estremità bombate ed estremità del cappuccio con simbolo dorato Pelikan. la clip è a forma di becco di pellicano con gli occhi nella parte iniziale. C’è una fascetta dorata alla base del perno per il movimento del pistone. La penna misura chiusa mm 125, aperta senza cappuccio mm 121, aperta con cappuccio mm 146, cappuccio mm 57.5, diametro corpo mm 12, diametro cappuccio mm 13, diametro impugnatura mm 9.5. La grandezza è medio regolare e il suo peso è di gr. 13.8. Durante l’uso la penna è ben bilanciata, comoda e facilmente impugnabile con e senza cappuccio che pesando pochissimo non influisce.
4) Design e performance del pennino
Il pennino è di tipo piccolo rigido e misura in lunghezza mm 19 e in larghezza “alare” mm 6.5. Il tratto è fine e l’ho voluto così perché solo così l’ho trovato. Rispetto al medium della M150 è sicuramente un tratto fine e probabilmente i pennini sono della stessa serie. Comunque il tratto è fluido e scorrevole su qualsiasi tipo di carta. L’inchiostro non secca facilmente nel pennino ma non rimane neanche troppo abbondante sulla carta.
Il sistema di capillarizzazione è di tipo classico lamellare in plastica con lamelle orizzontali. Il pennino è svitabile come tutti i pennini Pelikan e può essere sostituito con uno della stessa serie, oltre a permettere una facile manutenzione della penna.
5) Sistema di ricarica
La M200 è una penna con sistema classico a pistone azionabile direttamente nella parte estrema del corpo. I componenti del sistema sono in plastica essendo la penna di fascia bassa.
Considerando le 3 gocce da togliere subito dopo il riempimento, la penna contiene una quantità di inchiostro tale da permettere un utilizzo prolungato senza la paura che l’inchiostro finisca prima del previsto. In ogni caso pennino e impugnatura sono compatibili con i sistemi Stipula Netto Netto e Visconti Calamaio da viaggio.
6) Costo / Valore
Quando ho visto la penna su ebay, le aste italiane finivano sempre intorno a € 70.00 più le spese di spedizione e i compra subito stranieri erano a € 60 più spese di spedizione e quindi si equivalevano. L’ho comprata il 17 gennaio 2008 nella Cartoleria Dettori l’ho pagata € 60.00 nuova e considerando che è una demo fuori produzione ritengo di aver fatto un buon affare. La garanzia, come per tutte le Pelikan, è di 3 anni ma penso che non ne usufruirò mai se ha la stessa affidabilità della M150. Secondo me € 60.00 sono spesi più che bene perché la penna è proprio bella in questo grigio trasparente.
Mi sono trovato sempre molto bene come cliente della Cartoleria Dettori dove ho potuto acquistare alcuni pezzi rari anche per conto di membri di FPN.
7) Opinione complessiva e conclusioni
Se considero come pubblicità le informazioni raccolte su FPN, sulle inserzioni ebay e sul sito Pelikan, posso dire che hanno descritto molto bene la penna anche se per le foto la luce cambia tutto.
Nella mia collezione la penna si colloca in una posizione intermedia, non tanto per il valore, che sarebbe medio basso, quanto per la peculiarità della penna, ormai rara, che è stata prodotta anche in altre colorazioni demo e non. La ricomprerei certamente e consiglio chiunque ne trovi ancora in giro di prenderne almeno una, più per collezione/uso personale che come investimento.
Fountain Pen Review: Pelikan M150 Black GT Medium
1) First impressions
This pen has convinced me on two points, yet still valid for me: the high quality of all level Pelikan products and the incredible versatility of the piston filling system and its low cost compared to the cartridges. Then I was attracted by this pen because of three features: the brand that was not still tested at the time, its cost and the filling system. Unfortunately it was not so easy to find it because dealers in my city don’t sell it because it is an entry-level model. So I bought it online after reading several positive comments on FPN. The soft cardboard carton box, with the traditional hard cardboard box inside, had all the original Pelikan symbols and the booklet contained in addition to the warranty instructions, even the pen loading and maintenance instructions.
2) Aesthetics and finishing
Although it’s the basic modern model of Pelikan piston filling pens, the quality of this pen, talking about assembly and finishing, is absolute. The pen is glossy black with gold plated trims and exists only in this coloring. Observing closely the pen it doesn’t have any imperfection either in body, in cap and even in the nib, as to emphasize that Pelikan has the same attention to quality both for the cheaper and for the most expensive models, which price is due to their design, construction materials and limited edition production. I was certainly impressed by the pen even considering the online photos of the pen that have never been great, perhaps for the fact that was not convenient to take spectacular photos of a cheap model.
3) Design, size and weight
The pen is completely in black smooth diamond polished acrylic. It has a classic cylindrical shape with slightly curved ends and the cap tip has the traditional golden pelican. The clip is shaped like a pelican beak with eyes at the beginning, like in all Pelikan pens. The pen is very thin and small-medium lenght, so it is perfect for carriage being pocket-size. Its lengths are: 120 mm capped, 116 mm uncapped, 142 mm posted and 53.5 mm the cap alone. The diameters are: 12.5 mm of the cap, 11 mm of the body and 9 mm of the grip. Finally, the weight of the pen is gr. 12.5, that for someone it may seem low, but you get used easily to it.
4) Nib design and performance
The small steel nib is gold plated with a length of 18.5 mm and wingspan of 6 mm. The stroke is Medium, chosen because it is more common. I was expecting an everyday easy writing and it was. Compared to other medium is actually a real medium, and it runs very well on any kind of paper even though at the beginning it was a little scratching. The ink flow is steady and regular enough to allow quite long pauses without risking to let dry the ink and without inundate the paper, creating transparency effects. The feed system is in plastic with horizontal strips, a classic of Pelikan pens. The nib is screwable and replaceable and this results in a considerable easy maintenance of the pen.
I am very pleased with the nib quality and this has prompted me to medium and high level models.
5) Filling System
The pen has a classic piston filling system, with the mechanism and components in plastic and a semitransparent green window for assessing the ink level when it is out of the end. It has no reserve system but with the small nib and the smooth plastic grip, it’s easy to refill it even “on-the-go” with the Stipula Netto Netto inkwell or with the Visconti Travelling Inkpot. Considering the classic three drops the pen can hold as much ink that in an everyday use it does not last long but it allows an easy transport.
6) Cost / Value
I bought the pen on March 13rd, 2006 from www.eprice.it at the price of € 39.32, which in fact was the suggested customer list price from Pelikan. Recently I have taken the same as a gift for my aunt in Cagliari at Cartoleria Dettori at the price of € 40.00. Apart from the not updated prices of the city dealer, its value should be slightly increased but not so much as it’s just an entry-level. For my pen, the warranty is no longer valid, because it was for 3 years.
7) Overall opinion and conclusions
The FPN reviews well described the merits of the pen and I also agree saying that the paid price is good and you realize it only with an everyday use of the pen. From what I understand, it is the evolution of the M481 that I bought later but I consider that less beautiful than M150.
If you are looking for a pen, small and handy, pocket-sized, with no frills, of good quality, this pen is for you but only if you love the piston filling system.
Whereas my full experience with Pelikan, at present I would buy at least a M300, but this remains my first real Pelikan.
Fountain Pen Review: Stipula La 91 Black 0.9 Italic
1) First impressions
I chose to receive this pen as an university degree gift of the last year for the following reasons: it’s Italian and like all high-quality Italian things with time it acquires value, it’s a technologic pen with its retractable rotary mechanism, it’s small and it’s standing perfectly fine to leave on the desktop, it’s elegant and it’s something that lasts over time being totally metal. I saw it for the first time at Giardino Italiano site where later it was bought at and then I read a review about it on FPN. As always, Giardino Italiano has been reliable in the shipment and the package contained a Visconti Opera Club (of which I will write the review soon), several ink cartridges and it should also contain an inkwell with aluminum cap, kind gift of the site, which it was sent later with other inkwells I purchased. The pen arrived with the classic red box with hidden drawer which contained the instruction booklet / maintenance / warranty and 2 Stipula Blue della Robbia cartridges.
2) Aesthetics and finishing
The pen is pretty solid and compact because of it is almost completely of metal. The body of the pen that is also the grip is covered in shiny plastic, the rest is just metal chrome. It’s a bitonal black / chrome, perfect in detail and finishes. Of course all these shiny surfaces suffer of the hand sebo. In photo the black seemed dull, but in this way it’s much more elegant and I am very satisfied.
3) Design, size and weight
The pen is completely metal and this obviously affects the weight that despite its small size is gr.59. The grip diameter is 13 mm. The whole design of this pen is special and unique, hard to describe but this design allows the pen to be stably positioned vertically when not in use, while maintaining a sleek line and securing the nib with a patented retractable mechanism system. When you use the pen the flat base shows the visible symbol of Stipula nib while around the nib the metal is engraved with “La 91″ which is also the length in mm of the pen when it is closed while when it is open it measures 112 mm. Although the balance of the pen is perfect, its weight is felt and then relegates the pen for sporadic use only i.e. for signing documents or for short letters. In any case, photos do not make justice to this jewel.
4) Nib design and performance
The nib is a rhodiated 14kt solid gold with Italic 0.9 line, its length is 21 mm and the wingspan is 8 mm. Since the first use with the FPN Bexley I always liked the italic stub nibs so that if the pen is of high quality I always try to get it. I have another Stipula with italic nib but it is 1.1 and I still have to write the review. The stroke is soft and smooth and the nib is of the hard type. It keeps very well the ink that hardly dryies even though the flow is not particularly abundant but it is such to make a good shadow effect with the Stipula Terra di Siena ink. Unfortunately due to its small size, the feed plastic system can not be unscrewed but can only be jointed, which I haven’t checked for obvious reasons. The line is great with the Stipula Terra di Siena ink on all types of paper tested.
5) Filling System
The small size and the bayonet mechanism have constrained designers for use of short cartridges exclusively, and when the pen is closed, they arrive almost at the base and then the pen is incompatible even with the smaller converter. I usually prefer the piston filling system but considering that the pen is meant to be used occasionally and looking at its beautiful design, I am fully satisfied with this system that, unlike other pens, let the ink dry very slowly allowing the use of a mounted cartridge even after several months of time, preceded by a quick nib immersion in distilled water to dissolve just the dryed ink on the tip. Only drawback: it is very difficult to clean.
6) Cost / Value
Apart from the fact that the pen has been selected by me as an university degree gift from my aunt, I recommend strongly the purchase because it is out of production and then entered the firmament of rare pens. On September 4th 2007 the pen was paid EUR 215.00 from Giardino Italiano, official Stipula distributor and retailer. The pen was obviously new and perfectly packaged in its original box with lifetime warranty. I am always satisfied with my purchases at Giardino Italiano, and about the excellent assistance of Susanna and Marcello.
7) Overall opinion and conclusions
It is strange that a pen so beautiful and special has been publicized not so much. I am very happy because it actually respects the requirements for which it was designed: to catch the eyes of those people around us, to always be near hand, and to write well without too many thoughts at the ink. It’s a sin only for the cleaning difficulty but it’s an acceptable problem due to its design. This pen will remain one of the best and most unique pens in my collection, even if in future there will be more rare and expensive pens.
From what I read on Giardino Italiano and FPN it seems that in 2009 Stipula will release a new version of the pen, not only a simple nib change from titanium to gold as it happened in the past. At this point I am very curious, who knows if I will have the opportunity to have one of them in the future, to place side by side to this version.
Recensione Stilografica Pelikan M150 Black GT Medium
1) Prime impressioni
Si può dire che questa penna mi abbia convinto su due questioni tutt’oggi per me ancora valide ovvero l’estrema qualità dei prodotti Pelikan di qualsiasi fascia e l’incredibile versatilità del caricamento a pistone nonché la sua economicità rispetto alla cartuccia.
Sono stato quindi attirato da questa penna da tre aspetti: marchio non ancora provato per l’epoca, costo e sistema di caricamento.
Purtroppo non è stato facile trovarla in quanto i negozi in città non la vendono facilmente essendo un modello entry-level.
L’ho comprata quindi online dopo aver letto vari commenti positivi su FPN. la scatola era in cartoncino morbido esterno e cartone duro internamente, con tutti i simboli e libretti e le scritte Pelikan originali. Il libretto conteneva oltre alle istruzioni di garanzia, anche le istruzioni sul caricamento e sulla manutenzione della penna.
2) Estetica e rifiniture
Pur essendo il modello moderno base delle Pelikan a pistone, la qualità di questa penna per quanto riguarda assemblaggio e rifiniture è impeccabile.
La penna è nera lucida con rifiniture dorate ed esiste solo in questa colorazione.
Osservando da vicino la penna essa non riporta neanche un’imperfezione né nel copro né nel cappuccio e neanche nel pennino, come a voler sottolineare che la Pelikan ha la stessa attenzione alla qualità sia per i modelli economici che per quelli più costosi, resi tali quindi dal design, dai materiali di costruzione e dal numero limitato in produzione. La penna mi ha sicuramente colpito visto anche che le foto online della penna non sono mai state un granché forse per il fatto che non valeva la pena fare spettacolari foto su di un modello economico.

La penna è completamente in acrilico nero, levigata e lucidata “a diamante”. E’ di forma classica cilindrica e ha le estremità leggermente bombate. L’estremità del cappuccio riporta il simbolo del pellicano dorato. La clip ha la forma di un becco di pellicano con gli occhi nella parte iniziale, come in tutte le Pelikan. La penna è molto sottile e medio piccola quindi è perfetta per il trasporto essendo completamente tascabile. La sua lunghezza da chiusa è di mm 120, da aperta senza cappuccio mm 116, mentre con cappuccio mm 142, e del solo cappuccio mm 53.5. Il diametro del cappuccio è di mm 12.5, del corpo mm 11, e dell’impugnatura mm 9. Infine il peso della penna è di gr. 12.5 che per alcuni può sembrare poco, ma ci si abitua facilmente.
4) Design e performance del pennino
Il pennino è di tipo piccolo in metallo dorato con lunghezza di mm 18.5 e larghezza alare di mm 6. Il tratto è Medium, scelto perché essendo quello più comune mi aspettavo un tratto comodo per la scrittura quotidiana e così è stato. Paragonato ad altri medium è effettivamente un medio, e scorre molto bene su qualsiasi tipo di carta anche se all’inizio era un po’ grattante. Il flusso dell’inchiostro è costante e regolare tanto da permettere pause anche piuttosto lunghe senza rischiare che si secchi l’inchiostro ma senza inondare il foglio creando effetti di trasparenza. Il sistema di capillarizzazione è in plastica a lamelle orizzontali, un classico nelle Pelikan.
Il pennino è svitabile e sostituibile e ciò comporta una notevole facilità nella manutenzione della penna.
Sono molto contento della qualità del pennino e anche questo mi ha spinto verso i modelli maggiori.
5) Sistema di ricarica
La penna ha un sistema di ricarica a pistone di tipo classico, con meccanismo e componenti in plastica e finestra verde semitrasparente per valutare il livello dell’inchiostro quando è alla fine. Non ha sistemi di riserva ma essendo il pennino piccolo e l’impugnatura in plastica liscia, è facile da ricaricare anche al “volo” o con il calamaio Stipula Netto Netto o con il calamaio da viaggio Visconti.
Considerando le classiche tre gocce la penna può contenere quel tanto di inchiostro che nell’uso quotidiano non dura molto ma ne permette il facile trasporto.
6) Costo / Valore
Comprai il 13 marzo 2006 la penna da eprice.it pagandola € 39.32, che infatti era il prezzo di listino consigliato al pubblico. Recentemente ne ho preso una identica come regalo per una mia zia a Cagliari preso la Cartoleria Dettori pagandola € 40.00. A parte i prezzi non aggiornati il suo valore dovrebbe essere leggermente aumentato ma non di tanto essendo appunto una entry-level. La garanzia ha una validità di 3 anni.
7) Opinione complessiva e conclusioni
Le prove su FPN descrivevano bene i pregi della penna e anche io concordo nel dire che per il prezzo pagato la penna è ottima ma ci si rende conto di questo solo usandola quotidianamente. Da quel che ho capito in realtà questa è l’evoluzione della M481 che ho comprato successivamente ma che considero meno bella di questa.
Se cercate una penna piccola e maneggevole, tascabile, senza fronzoli ma di qualità, questa penna fa al caso vostro ma solo se amate il caricamento a pistone.
Oggi come oggi prenderei almeno una M300 vista l’esperienza totale con Pelikan ma questa rimane la mia prima vera Pelikan.
Recensione Stilografica Stipula La 91 Nera 0.9 Italic
1) Prime impressioni
Ho scelto di farmi regalare per la laurea dell’anno scorso questa penna per i seguenti motivi: è italiana e come tutte le cose di alta qualità italiana con il tempo acquista valore, è tecnologica con il suo meccanismo rotante a scomparsa, è piccola e sta in piedi perfettamente bella da lasciare sulla scrivania, è elegante ed è una cosa che dura nel tempo essendo completamente in metallo.
L’ho vista per la prima volta nel sito dei Giardino Italiano dove poi è stata comprata e successivamente ne ho letto una recensione su FPN. Come sempre, Giardino Italiano è stato affidabilissimo nella spedizione e l’imballo conteneva anche una Visconti Opera Club (di cui scriverò presto la recensione), varie cartucce di inchiostro e avrebbe dovuto contenere anche un calamaio con tappo in alluminio, gentile omaggio della casa, che mi è stato invece inviato successivamente con altri calamai acquistati.
La penna era con la classica scatola rossa con cassettino nascosto che conteneva il libretto di istruzioni / manutenzione / garanzia e 2 cartucce di Stipula Blue della Robbia.
2) Estetica e rifiniture
La penna si presenta bella solida e compatta essendo infatti quasi completamente in metallo. Il corpo della penna che è anche l’impugnatura è rivestito in plastica lucida, il resto è solo in metallo cromato. E’ una bitonale nera / cromo perfetta nei dettagli e nelle rifiniture. Ovviamente tutte queste superfici lucide risentono dell’unto della mano. In foto il nero sembrava opaco, ma così è molto più elegante e sono assai soddisfatto.
3) Design, dimensioni e peso
La penna è completamente in metallo e questo ovviamente influisce sul suo peso che nonostante le dimensioni ridotte è di gr. 59. Il diametro dell’impugnatura è di mm 13. Tutto il design di questa penna è particolare e unico, difficile da descrivere ma tale design permette alla penna di essere appoggiata stabilmente in verticale quando non la si usa, mantenendo una linea elegante e mettendo al sicuro il pennino con un sistema brevettato di meccanismo a scomparsa. Quando è in uso la base piatta riporta ben visibile il simbolo di Stipula mentre intorno al pennino il metallo riporta inciso “La 91″ che è anche la lunghezza in mm della penna quando è chiusa mentre quando è aperta misura 112 mm.
Nonostante il bilanciamento della penna sia ottimo il peso alla fine si fa sentire e quindi relega la penna ad un uso sporadico magari solo per firmare documenti o per brevi lettere. In ogni caso le foto non rendono giustizia a questo gioiellino.
4) Design e performance del pennino
Il pennino è in oro 14kt rodiato con tratto italico 0.9, la sua lunghezza è 21 mm e la larghezza delle ali è di 8 mm.
Fin dal primo utilizzo con la Bexley FPN mi sono sempre piaciuti i pennini stub italici tanto che se la penna è di alta qualità cerco sempre di ottenerlo. Ho anche un’altra Stipula con tratto italico ma 1.1 e devo ancora scriverne la recensione.
Il tratto è morbido e scorrevole e il pennino è di tipo rigido. Tiene molto bene l’inchiostro che si secca difficilmente nonostante il flusso non sia particolarmente abbondante ma è tale da permettere un buon effetto shadow con l’inchiostro Stipula Terra di Siena.
Purtroppo a causa delle dimensioni ridotte il sistema di capillarizzazione in plastica non permette di essere svitato ma è solo ad incastro, che comunque non ho verificato per ovvii motivi.
Con l’inchiostro Stipula Terra di Siena il tratto è ottimo su tutti i tipi di carta provati.
5) Sistema di ricarica
Le dimensioni ridotte e il meccanismo a baionetta hanno vincolato i progettisti all’uso esclusivo di cartucce corte, che quando la penna è chiusa, arrivano quasi alla base e quindi la penna è incompatibile anche con il più piccolo converter. Normalmente preferisco il caricamento a pistone ma visto che la penna è stata pensata per un uso saltuario e visto il bellissimo design, sono pienamente soddisfatto del sistema usato che al contrario di altre penne fa seccare l’inchiostro assai lentamente permettendo l’utilizzo di una cartuccia anche dopo svariati mesi di inutilizzo, previa veloce immersione del pennino in acqua distillata per sciogliere giusto l’inchiostro secco sulla punta.
Unico inconveniente: è assai difficile da pulire.
6) Costo / Valore
A prescindere dal fatto che la penna è stata scelta da me come regalo di Laurea da parte di mia zia, consiglio vivamente l’acquisto in quanto è uscita fuori produzione e quindi è entrata nel firmamento delle penne rare. Al 4 settembre 2007 la penna era stata pagata EUR 215.00 da Giardino Italiano, distributore e rivenditore ufficiale Stipula. La penna ovviamente era nuova e perfettamente imballata nella sua scatola originale con garanzia a vita.
Sono sempre soddisfatto degli acquisti fatti su Giardino Italiano, e dell’ottima assistenza di Susanna e Marcello.
7) Opinione complessiva e conclusioni
E’ strano che una penna così bella e particolare sia stata poco pubblicizzata. Sono molto soddisfatto in quanto alla fine rispetta pienamente quello per cui è stata progettata: attirare gli sguardi, essere sempre a portata di mano, e scrivere bene senza troppi pensieri all’inchiostro.
Peccato solo per la difficoltà nella pulizia ma è un problema accettabile dovuto al design.
Sicuramente nella mia collezione rimarrà una delle migliori e più particolari penne anche se in futuro saranno presenti penne rare e costose.
Da quello che leggo su Giardino Italiano e su FPN pare che nel 2009 Stipula rilascerà una nuova versione della penna, e non un semplice cambio di pennino da titanio a oro com’è avvenuto un passato. A questo punto sono molto curioso, chissà che non abbia l’occasione di averne una in futuro, da affiancare a questa versione.
Mouse programmabile con Leopard
Ho scoperto una cosa interessante. Se volete usare un mouse USB programmabile di qualsiasi marca con il vostro Mac ma non avete i driver e vi interessa avere la selezione applicazioni o l’exposé o la dashboard premendo la rotellina od il tasto centrale, dovete semplicemente farvi prestare un mouse a tre tasti Apple da chi ce l’ha, programmarlo secondo le vostre necessità, scollegarlo e collegarci il vostro. Dovrebbe a quel punto funzionare con la precedente programmazione. Idem vale per mouse a più funzioni. Ovviamente per mouse a più di tre tasti non garantisco per gli altri tasti.
Ho potuto verificare personalmente che programmando exposé su click su pallina con Mighty Mouse Wireless e spegnendo poi il bluetooth, qualsiasi mouse a tre tasti anche di marche infime funziona a tre tasti con exposé nel tasto centrale. E questo con qualsiasi funzione io programmi sui tre tasti.
Utile, così non si è più legati a costosi mouse “per mac”.
Cisco CCNA Certified (640-801)
Oggi, presso la scuola Epeople Academy di via Cugia 1 a Cagliari, scuola certificata PearsonVue, ho sostenuto l’esame per la certificazione industriale Cisco ICND (640-811), passandolo con successo con un punteggio di 951/1000 ed ottenendo così la certificazione industriale CISCO CCNA® (640-801), avendo conseguito precedentemente la prima parte Cisco INTRO (640-821).
Risultato del FCE (First Certificate of English)
Il Dott. Franco Staffa, direttore dell’Associazione Culturale Italia-Inghilterra, mi ha appena comunicato che ho ottenuto B in una scala da A ad E con alcune note di merito: Exceptional per il Writing e per lo Speaking e Almost Exceptional per il Reading. Ho sostenuto gli esami del FCE i giorni 10 e 11 Giugno 2008.
Sono molto soddisfatto per questo risultato e punto non solo a proseguire con il livello Advanced ma anche ad avviare l’apprendimento del francese.
Cisco CCNA Network Academy
Oggi ho completato con successo e molta soddisfazione il corso Cisco CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) presso la Epeople Academy con una media dei corsi di 87.4% ottenendo tutte e quattro le certificazioni accademiche e le quattro lettere di congratulazioni da parte di John T. Chambers, Presidente e Amministratore Delegato di Cisco Systems, Inc., lettere che vengono inviate solo a chi supera i corsi con un punteggio superiore alla media dei migliori. Purtroppo sul punteggio dell’ultimo corso ha influito la mia scarsa presenza fisica alle lezioni ed ai laboratori in classe, assenza dovuta ad un mese stracarico di impegni lavorativi e di studi di altro tipo. Tutti gli esami e i testi sono in inglese tecnico. A settembre sosterrò la ICND (640-811NA) certification, seconda e ultima parte della certificazione industriale CCNA (640-801NA), in quanto la prima parte INTRO (640-821NA) l’ho già superata il 28 aprile 2008.
In dettaglio i corsi:
- Il 2 Agosto 2008 ho completato il corso CCNA 4 – WAN Technologies, con un punteggio finale di 84.1%.
- Il 1 Luglio 2008 ho completato il corso CCNA 3 – Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing, con un punteggio finale di 87.2%.
- Il 10 Aprile 2008 ho completato il corso CCNA 2 – Routers and Routing Basics, con un punteggio finale di 86.9%.
- Il 5 Febbraio 2008 ho completato il corso CCNA 1 – Networking Basics, con un punteggio finale di 91.4%.
Se lavorate molto al computer…
è assolutamente necessario dormire bene.
Io personalmente ho scelto e acquistato un materasso matrimoniale in lattice naturale a 7 zone medio-rigido con densità di 75Kg/mc rivestito di fodera climatizzata estate/inverno sfoderabile e lavabile.
Vi assicuro che è un altro pianeta rispetto ai classici materassi ortopedici… Ci si trova così bene che praticamente ci si addormenta subito. Inoltre non si percepiscono i movimenti della persona che vi dorme accanto.
Ovviamente il materasso va accompagnato da una rete a doghe decente e dal cuscino giusto per il vostro fisico e la vostra posizione preferita nel sonno. Io ho scelto un cuscino ad altezza media in Memory Form, un materiale che mantiene la forma della testa e si adatta ad essa.

Se avete problemi con il Vostro Nokia S60 3rd edition
Se avete problemi con il Vostro Nokia S60 di terza generazione, potete fare un reset normale del telefono o un reset profondo (consigliato in caso di VIRUS).
Prima di procedere con il reset Vi consiglio vivamente di fare un backup dei Vostri dati più importanti sulla memory card. Inoltre Vi consiglio anche di impostare un codice per il blocco remoto, poi vi spiego il perché. Questo codice lo impostate da: Strumenti -> Impostazioni -> Protezione -> Telefono e Sim -> Consenti blocco remoto. Potete anche usare una password alfanumerica lunga tipo “zio paperino ha 3 nipotini”. Se avete dimenticato il cell acceso da qualche parte, un sms al vostro cellulare con questo testo lo blocca senza possibilità di usarlo fino all’inserimento del codice di sicurezza.
Per eseguire il backup dovete avere una scheda di memoria con spazio sufficiente per il backup installata. Andate in Strumenti -> Memoria -> Opzioni -> Backup memoria tel.
Per fare un reset normale, che altro non è che il reset che si può fare dal menù, dovete digitare *#7780#
Per fare un reset profondo (hard reset), dovete invece digitare *#7370#.
Vi chiederà il codice di sicurezza del cellulare che per sicurezza dovete sempre impostare per evitare che amici giocherelloni vi formattino il cellulare.
Una volta resettato potete ripristinare i dati e le impostazioni dalla memory card: Andate in Strumenti -> Memoria -> Opzioni -> Ripristino da card.
Il telefono vi chiederà di essere riavviato. Se avete fatto un hard reset al riavvio vi chiede la password della memory card. Pochi sanno che questa password è legata al codice per il blocco remoto, fermandosi però all’ottavo carattere. Quindi se avete impostato “zio paperino ha 3 nipotini”, la password per accedere alla memory card sarà “zio pape”.
A questo punto reimpostate le altre password e blocchi vari che il backup per sicurezza non ripristina e riavviate il telefono.
Ecco fatto senza alcuna riformattazione della memory card come da molti citata in rete.
Ricordatevi un’ultima cosa: se non rimuovete la password dalla scheda di memoria, entrando nell’apposita applicazione, la maggior parte dei programmi che avrete installato nella scheda di memoria non partiranno proprio (Route66, TomTom, ecc.), nonostante sia tutto visibile. Inoltre, con la password ancora impostata, la scheda risulta bloccata se la si sposta in altro telefono e se la si tenta di leggere con il computer risulta illeggibile. Tutti questi problemi si risolvono rimuovendo la password dal menù opzioni dell’applicazione “Memoria”.
CISCO IT Certification – INTRO (640-821NA)
Oggi ho passato l’esame della PearsonVue sostenuto presso la EPeople Academy in Via Cugia 1 a Cagliari ed ho ottenuto la CISCO IT Certification – INTRO (640-821NA). Sono molto contento in quanto questa è la mia prima certificazione industriale, che avvalora il mio talento. Entro l’estate avrò in mano altre due certificazioni, compresa quella di inglese, e posso dedicarmi allo studio per l’esame di stato

Fountain Pen Review: Parker Frontier Blue Medium
1) First impressions
Before I decided to collect fountain pens also of a certain value, I was willing to stay in the medium-low class pens and this model is considered the entry-level model of Parker brand so I looked for a few seller on ebay and I was attracted by either the low price and the Iridescent color that in some photos made up the pen color purple.
This pen is one of the first purchased on ebay, practically the beginning of my collection. Despite coming from Great Britain the shipment was fast and arrived packed in padded envelope with its original packaging in plastic blister with cardboard. Inside there were the classic Parker Sapphire cartridge and package of the lifetime warranty and instructions.
2) Aesthetics and finishing
As you can imagine, being a cheap pen, it is built in series in large numbers and so it is difficult to find any defect that does not belong to the whole series. The pen has a metal satin cap, plastic body with iridescent blue-violet effects and a rubber blue-purple handle. Watching carefully, the pen is almost perfect seamless symmetry. The only flaw in my opinion is that the cap remains not so tight when the pen is capped but this does not seem to affect in any way the ink flow in the nib. Considering the price I am quite satisfied with the appearance of the pen.
3) Design / Size / Weight
The pen is in plastic and metal and it has a cigar shape is a cigar with a flat end cap. The clip is a classic arrow-shaped Parker. The shape is comfortable and perfect for a battle field or street pen. The measure is a regular or medium-regular, according to various opinions. It ‘s very light, infact it only weighs gr. 15, which may be disturbing to someone, but that makes it attractive as an every day pen. Having the pen posted or uncapped will change little as the weight is so low. The dimensions are in mm: capped 133, uncapped 123, posted 149, body 76, body diameter 12, cap 56, cap diameter 13, grip 48, grip diameter 11, nib 18, nib wingspan 8.
4) Nib design and performance
The medium nib is dark polished steel and is a real Medium. The nib writes well but not perfectly smooth, which is quite normal considering the cost of the pen. It’s rigid and the flow is perfect even allowing long pauses with no obligation to cover the pen. The feed is made of plastic with sided strips, it’s screwable and replaceable and, in some cases, interchangeable with those of the Sonnet series. It doesn’t skip but over some papers is a little rough. Overall I am very satisfied.
5) Filling System
As all the entry level low cost pens, the filling system is always a cartridge also if the pen is able to accept any Parker or Aurora converter (not supplied). Parker and Aurora cartridges , that exist only in long version, are quite comfortable and allow an economic use of the pen by buying compatible cartridges. Just pay attention to ink quality.
6) Cost / Value
I paid the pen € 6.00 + € 3.00 for shipping costs and at the time of purchase its value was € 15.00. I bought it on ebay from sheildcosmetics and despite being a private, the pen has a lifetime warranty, but obviously without proof of purchase. I got it still sealed with its transparent and card-blistered box. For what I have written I can say that I have well spent my money because in Italy this pen is not easy to be found. In any case it is part of a low level class in my collection. I have nothing to complain even for the transaction on ebay.
7) Overall opinion and conclusions
Overall, the pen is very good, though in the long writing period its lightness may tire. Many people find the Frontier’s writing better than or equal to the Sonnet’s one. Personally I find it slightly more rough, although there are several versions of Frontier and perhaps the most expensive ones could be better, but I think the change is only about the finish and the material of the pen. Surely I suggest the pen to all those people who want a pen that writes well, is convenient and cost so low that you can carry around and use it in any situation without risking a heart attack showing, losing or breaking it.
